Honda's intention to build a new automobile plant in Indonesia today is evidenced by the groundbreaking of the construction of the plant in Karachi, West Java. In this plant, Honda plans to build a small car and an MPV Honda Brio priced.

"In this place, we will build our second factory in Indonesia which will increase our production capacity from 60,000 per year to 180 000 cars per year," said President Director of PT Honda Motor Prespect Tomoki Uchida.

"The plant will produce new models of Honda in Indonesia and will be one of the largest factory Honda in Asia," he said.

Honda's own land in Industrial Area with an area Mitrakarawang 512 500 square meters. 97575.79 m2 of which has been built to produce Honda's mainstay models in Indonesia such as the Honda Jazz, Honda CR-V and Honda Freed to be developed into 192,575.79 m2.

There are a variety of facilities ranging from the Honda factory Stamping, Press, Welding, Painting, Assembling, Vehicle Quality, Road Test, Car Pool, and Engine Plant.

In addition to producing for the domestic market needs, the Honda factory which employs about 3,600 employees also have been exporting various auto parts like engine parts such as Cylinder Head and Cylinder Block and car components such as Hood Comp, Panel Inside RR, R / L Inside, Skin Hood, Hood frame to complete products such as Honda Freed to various countries.

For his new factory, Honda plans to increase the number of their workers between 2000-5000 people at the factory and are expected to absorb 50,000 people in the industrial parts supplier and 6,000 people in 62 new network of Honda in Indonesia.

For the construction of the plant, Honda poured funds of up to Rp 3.1 trillion. The factory is expected to begin production in quarter 1 2014.
