"Recovery of ankle ligament running smoothly. Doctor did a fantastic operation, down to the smallest wound. Now we have to reduce the weight on the foot, and let it recover fully before I return to the bike," Stoner said as quoted by the official MotoGP website.
Stoner suffered severe accident at Indianapolis MotoGP qualifying, August 18, 2012. Although successfully completed the race the next day, the origin of Australia has decided to undergo surgery and miss the last two series, the Czech Republic and San Marino.
MotoGP world champion 2007 and 2011 it was not sure when he will be back to race. However, Stoner targets comeback in Motegi, Japan.
"I have a check-up with the doctor last week and he was pleased with my recovery, but we will know better his condition in the next two weeks. Till now there is no exact date, but I was expecting a show in Japan," said Stoner.
"I saw the race at Misano, it feels weird to watch it on television. But, I think it's great practice for next year. Sweetheart Dani (Pedrosa) had some problems early in the race, and out of the race," he said.
